Brookfield Renewable
Brookfield Renewable is a publicly traded renewable power company operated by Brookfield, with about 47,200 megawatts of operating capacity worldwide, according to its 2025 annual report; its principal office is in Hamilton, Bermuda, and its main U.S. office is in New York. It has four hydroelectric plants in Pennsylvania totaling 747 megawatts, including the Holtwood and Safe Harbor dams on the lower Susquehanna River in Lancaster and York counties. In July 2025 it signed 20-year contracts to sell about 670 megawatts from those two dams to Google, worth more than $3 billion, as the first deals under a framework for up to 3,000 megawatts of hydropower, and both dams are going through federal relicensing.
In May 2024 Brookfield Renewable signed a framework agreement with Microsoft to deliver more than 10.5 gigawatts of new renewable capacity in the U.S. and Europe between 2026 and 2030.
