The record, in the words of the reporters covering it.

Local, regional, and trade coverage of the 900 Conshohocken Road data-center proposal, newest first. Start with the next thing on the calendar: the June 25 zoning hearing.

The first zoning hearing is set for June 25 at Colonial Middle School.

The township chose a larger venue than the building that hosted the first round of hearings, where crowds of hundreds turned out, an apparent move to accommodate the scale of expected attendance. It is a different choice than nearby Limerick Township, which responded to large crowds by moving its hearings to smaller rooms.

A few things to know before the 25th:

  • The June 25 session is open to the public and will be live-streamed, but there will be no public comment that night.
  • The first meeting covers procedural steps, including the opportunity for community members to seek party status, plus initial testimony.
  • The matter is expected to span multiple hearing dates given the anticipated scope of testimony and evidence.
  • The township says it will announce in advance the future date on which public comment will be permitted.

The site sits in the Heavy Industrial district, where data centers are not a listed use, so the applicant is seeking a special exception under the “similar use” provision. As a quasi-judicial body, the Zoning Hearing Board will weigh evidence and testimony against the ordinance's standards before deciding.
