Core Natural Resources

Core Natural Resources is a coal producer and exporter based in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, formed when CONSOL Energy merged with Arch Resources in January 2025, and its stock trades on the New York Stock Exchange. It owns the former Robena Mine site along the Monongahela River in Monongahela Township, Greene County, where International Electric Power has an agreement to buy the land for Project Hummingbird, a gas-fired power plant and water treatment plant meant to draw a large data center. Core still owned the land as of September 2026, and Greene County has approved only early reclamation and grading work there.

Core mines coal in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Wyoming and Colorado, and its 2025 annual report says new AI data centers are driving up power demand and that it's positioned to shift its production to meet more demand for coal.
