What the report says about this site
“Located at 200 McGovern Blvd, Glenwillard, PA 15046 (coordinates 40°34'08.7"N 80°13'44.0"W), this 15.9-acre former coal plant on the east bank of the Ohio river retired in 2000 and has a retired capacity of 410 MW (see Figure 24 and Table 13). A scrap metal dealer operates on part of the site, and the rest of the lot seems available. The site has been decommissioned, and its remediation status is unknown. The site is northwest of Pittsburgh and directly adjacent to Crescent Township. It and an available adjacent 10.4 acres under common ownership are zoned for industrial use; the area is rated as being moderately rugged. The site is treated as a presumptive brownfield, and there is confirmed soil and groundwater contamination on the site. FEMA designates the site as having a very low natural hazard risk but sitting in a floodway. The parcel is not located within a known coal mining area and is, therefore, considered to have minimal mine subsidence potential; however, nearby parcels fall within a documented mineable coal area with potential mine subsidence risk. The site has easy access to major highways, the rail system, and the river. Transmission lines and a substation are adjacent to the site, and a natural gas pipeline runs ~1.5 miles away. The nearest broadband installation is ~1 mile away. The nearest generator is 7 miles away. The site sits on the Marcellus shale formation. The nearest wastewater treatment plant is ~1 mile away, and the nearest brownfield is ~1.5 miles away. There are ~1,817,337 people within 30 miles of the site.”

Our view on the study
Pennsylvania is studying two Schuylkill power sites. We think residents deserve corrected data, real environmental analysis and a straight answer on costs before the list gets shorter.
